Do I Qualify For Medical Marijuana?

Under the ACMPR (Access to Cannabis for Medical Purposes Regulations) Canadians can get a prescription for medicinal marijuana from a health care practitioner to allay the symptoms of a wide range of diseases such as multiple sclerosis and Parkinson’s, to name a few. Once they have a prescription, patients can register and order cannabis from one of thirty-nine Licensed Producers across the country. Is Hash Stronger Than Weed?

Hash is generally much stronger than weed. While a typical marijuana strain contains a maximum THC content of 25-35%, a typical variety of hash will have a THC content anywhere from 20%-60%. Early plants are known to have a higher THC-to-CBD ratio, which gets users higher. Hash that has been cured for a short period of time before being sold is also more potent as the THC content has had less time to degrade.

What Does THC Do?

THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) is the chemical compound in marijuana that is responsible for the “high” users experience. THC’s effects depend on the individual. Some people may feel that it promotes strong feelings of calm, peace and elation. Others may experience an increase in anxiety levels. The factors at play include the person’s unique body chemistry as well as the strains and concentrations of THC found in the plant.

How Long Does It Take For Weed To Wear Off?

Weed usually takes two to three hours to wear off when it is smoked. If you eat an edible, the effects will last much longer, typically from four to six hours. THC stays in a person’s system for several days or weeks after the user stops feeling the effects — that means that people can test positively for marijuana use even if they don’t feel high.

Do Dried Mangoes Get You Higher?

Eating mangoes, including dried mangoes, will intensify the effects of cannabis. The main culprit behind this is the terpene myrcene. It helps by making cell membranes in the brain more permeable and receptive to cannabis. Specifically, it helps THC to pass the blood brain barrier, and thus, makes the effects of cannabis much quicker. For best results, you should eat a ripe mango at least 45 minutes before taking cannabis.

Is Cannabis An Antidepressant?

Though there is little conclusive evidence, Cannabis is thought to improve symptoms of depression when patients find the dose and strain that works for them. A dose that is too high can worsen symptoms of depression. Cannabis can stimulate the body’s endocannabinoid system to increase serotonin — some popular antidepressants also function by increasing serotonin levels. Many patients prefer cannabis to antidepressants because it has milder side effects and withdrawal symptoms.

How is Medical Cannabis Used?

The body naturally produces Endocannabinoids, which are processed by the endocannabinoid system. The Endocannabinoid system is composed of two types of receptors; cannabinoid 1(CB1) and cannabinoid 2(CB2) receptors. As the market for marijuana grows, so do the variety of strains and olfactory profiles that make each one so unique. Typically, when we talk about the flavour of marijuana, we are referring to the oils secreted from the same glands that produce cannabinoids (like THC and CBD). Those oils are called “terpenes”, and can range in flavour and scent from lemon to berry and from perfume to gasoline. Each strain of marijuana has a distinct terpene profile which helps to define it, and that’s where we get such whimsical names as Strawberry Cough, Black Cherry Cola, and even Sour Diesel. The taste is most profound when vaporized at a low temperature, but it becomes bitter and harsh upon decarboxylation.

Some patients choose medical marijuana as a natural alternative to opiate painkillers, while others use both marijuana and opiates for increased relief. Health Canada does not impose restrictions on how physicians prescribe medical marijuana, so the choice to prescribe marijuana is up to each individual doctor.

Is Smoking Weed Everyday Bad?

Daily weed use has its risks and rewards. Concerning the risks, it has been shown to lower the amount of grey matter in the brain’s orbitofrontal cortex which governs decision making and mental processes. This depletion can lead to psychiatric problems and personality disorders. Addiction, car accidents, and pregnancy complications are also worth considering. On the plus side, daily marijuana use has a series of health benefits like pain relief, regulation of blood sugar, and weight loss.

Are Dabs Bad For You?

“Dabbing” is the increasingly popular practice of smoking marijuana extracts, made by dissolving marijuana in butane. The extract’s greater concentration of THC means it provides a more euphoric high than conventional cannabis. While no research yet exists showing that dabbing is more dangerous than smoking regular weed, users need to beware of more pronounced side effects, such as poor coordination and judgment.

Does Weed Make You Lose Weight?

In several studies, marijuana users were found to have lower Body Mass Indexes (BMIs), slimmer waists, and lower rates of obesity and diabetes than people who don’t use marijuana. However, this may be correlation, not necessarily causation. While this information is promising, further research is needed before asserting that marijuana is a helpful weight loss drug or a good way to prevent diabetes or obesity.

What Happens When You Eat Weed?

When you eat weed, it gets metabolized in your digestive system to produce a different kind of THC than when you smoke.  The gut and liver form a product called 11-Hydroxy-Delta-9-THC, which then gets circulated in your bloodstream to your brain to take effect.  It takes longer to get high when you eat weed, but it can offer a longer-lasting and more intense body high than smoking.

Why Does Weed Make Your Eyes Red?

Ocular redness subsequent to marijuana usage, whether through inhalation or ingestion, is a common occurrence for most infrequent and frequent individuals with exposure to tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). The severity of ‘red eye,’ as it is colloquially referred, is invariably dependent upon not only the quantity of cannabis absorbed but also the quality/potency – the more elevated the THC content within the strain, the more likely the user is to exhibit redness.

What Does Weed Look Like?

How marijuana looks will vary depending on what form it is in. In its plant form, it has a distinctive leaf pattern growing out of long thin stems, and eventually, flowers or buds. This is the part of the cannabis plant that contains its active ingredients. Once dried, marijuana looks like clusters of dried leaves, flowers and stems. If it is good quality, you should be able to see red, orange or white hairs and crystals, or trichomes, on the buds.

Does Weed Dehydrate You?

Marijuana does not cause dehydration, but it does accelerate it. THC binds to gland receptors in your mouth that produce saliva, which leads to a temporary halt in saliva development. It isn’t recommended that you combine marijuana with other products that cause dehydration, such as medication and alcohol. It’s important to stay hydrated while consuming or smoking marijuana.

Does Weed Help With Depression?

Marijuana has been used to treat depression since the 17th century where it first began in England and India. While THC has been shown to improve mood in low doses on a short-term basis, long-term consumption of higher doses can cause depression. This is particularly true among teens who are at far higher risk of suffering marijuana related depression than their adult counterparts. Symptoms can follow them into adulthood even long after they’ve stopped using the drug.

Will Trudeau Legalize?

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has promised to legalize, regulate and restrict access to marijuana. A task force has been assembled and new legislation is expected to be unveiled in 2017. Prime Minister Trudeau believes that the current, prohibitive system does not stop people from using the drug—it does, however, weigh down the criminal justice system, give Canadians criminal records for minor, non-violent offences, and fund organised crime.

Is There THC in Resin?

The term ‘Resin’ has several applications, and thus, definitions. In one sense, it is used to describe the natural, sticky substance produced by the cannabis plant. This substance contains THC, which is why high-grade cannabis is often sticky. Resin might also refer to the residue left over after smoking marijuana. This substance contains very little THC, although some users reclaim and smoke it again. Resin can also be a reference to certain extracts, which contain higher levels of THC than weed.

Why Is My Weed Sticky?

Weed should feel at least a little bit sticky when you try to break it up. The stickiness comes from cannabis resin, an adhesive substance produced by glands on the cannabis plant. Resin contains many cannabinoids, medicinal chemicals that can interact with the nervous system, which means that the amount of resin (or how sticky the herb is) is a good indicator of how potent the weed will be.

Wet weed might also refer to weed laced with PCP, as PCP is sometimes called “wet” or “water.”

What Are Trichomes?

Trichomes are tiny, crystal-like bulbous appendages found on cannabis flowers, leaves and stems. These particles have a glistening appearance, and are largely responsible for giving every weed strain a distinct aroma, flavour and potency. Since trichomes carry most of the cannabinoid, terpene and flavonoid contents in them, they form a very integral part of the plant that is now widely being used as a medical aid.

Are Vapes Bad For You?

The term vaping is short for vaporizing or vaporizer. It is a process of heating up dry cannabis or cannabis concentrates to a temperature that is below the combustion threshold. Vaporizers do not produce smoke, but instead, release cannabis’s active ingredients (THC and CBD) as an aerosol. Inhaling smoke can expose you to harmful toxins and cancer causing substances. While vaporizers do mitigate this, harms from its use still exist.

Hash is weed made from only these glands separated and then pressed together and heated, producing a substance that can vary in density and colour and is far more potent. Hash is ingested much like weed is.

Will Weed Help my Depression?

There is no evidence that marijuana directly causes depression. There’s even less evidence that it will help. Bottom line: more study and research must be done on the subject of whether marijuana helps depression. Canada allows medical marijuana to be recommended for depression under the ACMPR. None of the studies done on animal subjects to see if the compounds that affect cannabinoid receptors in the brain link marijuana with less depression.

How Much Weed Does It Take To Overdose?

Thankfully, there are no known cases of weed overdoses that have led to death. Because of this, many consider marijuana to be a “safe drug.” However, that doesn’t mean that there’s no such thing as too much marijuana. Ingesting excessive levels of cannabis in a single sitting can cause unpleasant symptoms including vomiting, paranoia, panic attacks, memory loss, sweats, and chills. Heavy marijuana use can also cause adverse health effects over time.
